A busy summer for Young Carers

Here’s a taste of a few of the activities FOYCS funded for Young Carers this summer.

Jungle Parc

At Lydiard’s Jungle Parc the Young Carers tested their head for heights and their balancing skills. What with high-wire walks, zip wires and other challenges the Young Carers were able to really test themselves. One of the Young Carer said: “I loved it until the bit where there was wobbly logs that you had to walk across; sadly and funnily I fell off and twisted my ankle but I still enjoyed it and so did everybody else”.

Windsor Castle

Seventeen Young Carers visited Windsor Castle to explore the history of Prince Charles’ official residence. They saw the famous Queen Mary’s Dolls House, a collection of guns dating back to the early 1600s and lots of other very expensive and historic artefacts. The Young Carers asked the guide lots of questions and enjoyed their visit.

Butterfly World

Young Carers aged between five and nine went to visit Butterfly World. They saw many different butterflies, small and large, as well as other animals. The Young Carers also took the opportunity to hold snakes and lizards and feed goats. They finished off the day by choosing a piece of pottery to paint as a reminder of a great day out.
